About the division

The personal injury division of The H Law Group

This is the personal injury division of The H Law Group, and defective products are its concentration. We represent people who were hurt by something they had every reason to trust: a vehicle component, a medical device, a prescription drug, a battery, an ordinary consumer product. We also handle the full range of serious injury claims across California, from 6 offices statewide.

Our focus

Why product liability sits at the center of our practice

Most injury claims turn on what a person did. Product cases turn on what a company built. California law recognizes that difference: a manufacturer that puts a defective product into the stream of commerce can be held strictly liable for the harm it causes, whether or not the company was careless. The question is the product, not the injured person’s conduct.

That is why this division is organized the way it is. A general injury practice treats a defective part as one more fact in a collision file. We treat it as the claim, which changes who gets sued, what has to be preserved in the first week, and which experts are retained.

That shift changes how a case has to be prepared. The product must be preserved before it is repaired, discarded or returned. Recall notices, service bulletins, adverse-event filings and internal testing records have to be pulled. Engineers, physicians and industry specialists have to be able to explain, in terms a jury will accept, exactly how a design choice or a production error made an ordinary product dangerous.

We also see how often the two worlds overlap. A rollover crash can involve both a distracted driver and a roof that collapsed. A fire can involve both a landlord and a battery pack that went into thermal runaway. Handling both practice areas under one roof means the defective-product theory is not missed while the obvious claim is being pursued.

What we do

How we build a case

These are the capabilities we bring to a claim. What any individual case is worth, and how it resolves, depends entirely on its own facts.

Product defect investigation

We preserve the product itself, secure purchase and service records, pull recall history and adverse-event reports, and work with engineers who can explain how the design or the manufacturing process failed.

Strict liability claims

Product cases do not require proving carelessness. We build claims around manufacturing defects, design defects and failure to warn, so the focus stays on the product rather than on the injured person.

Corporate and supply-chain accountability

A single defective component can involve a manufacturer, a component supplier, an assembler, a distributor and a retailer. We identify every entity in the chain of distribution that can be held responsible.

Full personal injury practice

Vehicle collisions, rideshare crashes, premises hazards, dog bites and wrongful death claims are handled by the same team, which matters when an injury involves both a negligent driver and a defective part.

Medical and damages documentation

We organize treatment records, billing, wage loss and the long-term care picture so the full cost of an injury is documented rather than estimated.

Litigation readiness

Cases are prepared from the outset as though they will be tried. Manufacturers respond differently to a claim that is documented, deadline-aware and ready to be filed.

Working with us

What to expect

The first conversation is a free case evaluation. You describe what happened, we tell you whether there is a claim worth investigating, and you decide what to do next. There is no obligation and no charge for that conversation.

No fee unless we recover compensation for you. In some matters a client may still be responsible for case costs and expenses, and we will explain exactly how that works before you decide to hire us.

Contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship begins only if we both sign a written representation agreement.

Serving all of California

We accept cases throughout California and keep offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, Temecula, San Jose, Irvine and Santa Barbara. Consultations are also handled by phone and video, so you do not have to travel while you are recovering.

English and Spanish

Hablamos Español. You can describe what happened in the language you are most comfortable using.

Deadlines are real

California generally allows two years from the date of injury to file a personal injury or product liability lawsuit, and shorter deadlines apply to claims against government entities. Exceptions apply in both directions, so the sooner we look at your case, the more options remain.

Find out where you stand, at no cost

A conversation costs you nothing and there is no obligation. No fee unless we recover compensation for you. In some matters a client may still be responsible for case costs and expenses, and we will explain exactly how that works before you decide to hire us.
